What Are Push-Through Signs?

Push-through signs (also called push-through acrylic signs) are a premium sign construction method that combines a solid face panel (usually aluminum, ACM, or similar) with illuminated acrylic letters or shapes that are physically inserted through routed cutouts in the face.

• 🧩 How the Push-Through System Is Made
• Face Panel Preparation: The sign face is made from opaque aluminum or ACM (aluminum composite).
• Letters, logos, or shapes are routed (cut) completely through the panel.
  
  Acrylic Inserts
• Acrylic pieces are CNC cut to match the cutouts, slightly larger than the holes.
• These pieces are pushed through from the back and bonded in place so they protrude about 1/8"–1/4" beyond the surface.
  
  LED Illumination
• LED modules are installed behind the acrylic, inside the sign box.
• The LEDs back-light the acrylic, creating a vivid glowing face and halo edge.
  
  Finishing
• Acrylic faces can be frosted, painted, or covered with translucent vinyl for color.
• The front panel hides all hardware, giving a clean, seamless look.
